I was born in the Canary Islands (1963) and I worked as chief curator and deputy director at Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM) in Las Palmas city (Gran Canaria Island) from 1989 to 1998. In this art center we developed an intensive art program trying to focus our activities on contemporary art from Latino America-Caribe, Africa and Europe, in some way in parallel to our geographical and historical situation. This work allowed me to be in contact with many artists and specialists from these cultural areas since the end of the eighties. Beside this I have collaborated in many editions with Dak’Art Biennial, the Reencontres de la Photographie Africaine in Bamako, the first two editions of Luanda Triennial, and Alexandria Biennial…Camouflage art space in Brussels…

From 2001 to 2007 I was the director of a small and intensive art space in the periphery of the north of Spain where I moved to live with my family on 1998 and where I live at present, in the city of Santander. That art space were called Espacio C and I tried in that project to put together local artists with international artists building together experiences and projects. In these almost seven years many contemporary african, caribbean, latino-american artists where there working together with local artists, like Andries Bothas, Moataz Nasr, Tracey Rose, Berni Searle, Fatma Charfi, Zoulikha Bouabdellah, Barthélémy Toguo, Carlos Garaicoa, Tania Bruguera, Guillermo Gómez-Peña, Jack Being-Thi, Jean-Pierre Gauthier, Peter Johansson, Tonel…

And on these last fifteen years I have as well collaborated with Biennials like Havana, (Cuba), Cuenca (Ecuador), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Honduras, Montreal (Canadá), Cerveira (Portugal)… I normally develop interdisciplinary art projects and performance is a gender that I have as well worked organizing performance festival, art meetings…

This year 2015 I have presented a curatorial proposal with four artists in a parallel Project “Detrás del Muro / Behind the Wall” in the context of La Havana Biennial

An Art Project for “Something Else”, Cairo, Egypt, November 2015.

De lo Espiritual / The Spiritual is a contemporary art Project proposal with the Spanish artists Esther Aldaz and Jorge Cembranos curated by Orlando Britto Jinorio with the intention to be presented in “Something Else”, the new International contemporary art event that will be celebrated at Cairo during the months of november-december 2015.

Our participation would include the Esther Aldaz’s works called “Engraving the deception” , a selection of photograhies , videos and a textile object, as part of her experience of a trip-non trip done symbolically during his residence, living for five weeks alone inside of a saling boat in the sailing port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City in the Canary Islands.

Beside this we would present as well a serie of photoperformance made by the photo-artist Jorge Cembranos  called “Narcisus” a work framed in his main Project about identity, representation and self-knowlegde.

Both proposals can be considered as artistic experiences and reflections inside the diverse and possible territories of the spirituality or the experience of spirituality.
